Description
Toradol (Ketorolac) is a powerful analgesic that belongs to the class of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic properties. It used to relieve the pain of different origin. Toradol has no significant effect on the central nervous system and does not have sedative and anxiolytic properties. It does not belong to opiates and does not affect central opiate receptors. Toradol does not affect respiration and does not increase respiratory depression or sedation caused by opiates.
Indication for use
Toradol (Ketorolac) can be taken by almost all adults and children over 2 who have injuries, toothache, dislocations, sprains, pain in the postpartum and postoperative period, arthralgia, cancer, myalgia, neuralgia, sciatica, rheumatic diseases.
Precautions
Toradol (Ketorolac) is not recommended to use if you have hypersensitivity (including to aspirin and other NSAIDs), chronic pain, nasal polyps, angioedema, bronchospasm, bronchial asthma, gastric and duodenal ulcers, impaired renal function, hypovolemia, dehydration, high risk of postoperative bleeding or incomplete stop of bleeding, hemopoiesis, cerebral hemorrhage, pregnancy, lactation (breast-feeding should be stopped for the period of treatment), children's age (up to 2 years).
Dose and usage
Toradol (Ketorolac) is produced in tablet form - 10 m , white, round, flat. Also available in injection form, in ampoules of 1 ml. 1 ml contains 30 mg of ketorolac.
Toradol can be taken orally or intramuscularly / intravenously. A single dose is 15-30 mg, the frequency of administration is every 4-6 hours. For patients with body weight less than 50 kg and persons over 65 years of age, a single dose can be reduced. If necessary, the drug can be administered every 2 hours. The maximum daily dose is 120 mg. For the treatment of acute pain in the postoperative period, the first dose is 30 mg, the same dose can be repeated after 15-30 minutes. 15mg dose can be used every 30 minutes (until the maximum daily dose is reached). The maximum duration of the use of the drug Toradol is 5 days. Children toradol are prescribed only in injections.
Side effects
Sometimes the patient may experience: dry mouth, dyspepsia, gastrointestinal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, peptic ulcers, gastritis, impaired liver function, flatulence, stool black, constipation, rectal bleeding, stomatitis, headache, pallor, dizziness, nervousness, depression, drowsiness, asthenia, sweating, swelling, dyspnea, asthma, taste and vision impairment, vasodilation, increased urination, oliguria, glomerulonephritis, nephrotic syndrome, acute renal failure, myalgia, urticaria, pruritus, pain at the injection site.
