The pills of Rivotril come in the round shape of white, yellow or coral colors depending on the dosage and the producer. The usual dosages for one tablet, which contains clonazepam, are 0,5 and 2 mg. The medicine belongs to the group of antiepileptic means. The active component is clonazepam.
Rivotril increases the sensitivity of receptors to aminobutyric acid, due to which there is a slowdown in the transmission of nerve impulses, and the excitability of neurons is reduced. Also, the drug has a general soothing, sedative effect on the central nervous system. The feeling of anxiety, causeless anxiety and nervous tension is dulled. The quality and duration of sleep improve. Indications for use are epilepsy in children and adults. During the treatment with Rivotril, patients are strictly forbidden to use ethanol, since it can disrupt the drug, reduce the effectiveness of the treatment, or it can cause unforeseen side effects.
