Lamisil (Terbinafine) is an antifungal medication that is used to treat infections caused by fungus. It can be used as in treating infections caused by fungus that affect the fingernails or toenails, the same as a fungal infection of scalp hair follicles or tinea versicolor.
Indication for use
Lamisil (Terbinafine) can be taken by almost all adults and children over 2 who have :
· onychomycosis resulting from the action of dermatophyte fungi;
· fungal lesions of the skin - feet, body, legs;
· infectious diseases associated with infection with candida fungi;
· fungal lesions of the scalp.
Lamisil (Terbinafine) is not recommended to use if you have: sensitiveness to terbinafine, or other component of this medication; problem with liver. Children under 12 years old are prohibited to use Lamisil (Terbinafine) ointment the same as women who have lactation period.
In case of pregnancy you have to consult with your doctor.
Dose and usage
Dose of Lamisil (Terbinafine): 250mg– white, round, flat tablets; 15mg and 30 mg white ointment in tube.
Before taking this medication consult with your attending physician.
Dose: 1 tablet of 250 mg once a day.
The duration of treatment depends on the nature and severity of the disease.
In case of skin infections:
dermatophytosis of the feet - 2-6 weeks
trichophytosis of smooth skin - 4 weeks
perineal trichophytosis - from 2 to 4 weeks.
In case of scalp infections:4 weeks.
As any others medications Lamisil (Terbinafine) can have in some cases side effects such as: allergic reactions, diarrhea and dyspeptic disorders.
Tell your doctor if you have some side effects or your condition worsens.
