Description
Diamox (Acetazolamide)
The pills of Diamox come in elongated or round shapes of white or yellow colors depending on the dosage and the manufacturer. The usual dosage for this diuretic is 250 mg. The tablets themselves consist of acetazolamide. Acetazolamide is used relatively rarely as a usual diuretic since there are more effective drugs, but it is well suited for edema due to pulmonary heart disease when it is necessary to reduce elevated levels of carbon dioxide and bicarbonates in the blood.
Pharmacological use
Indications for use are edema of cardiac origin, nephrosis, and cirrhosis of the liver, epilepsy, various forms of glaucoma. Diamox is used in the treatment of edematous syndrome due to a weak diuretic effect. This drug increases the excretion of bicarbonates, which can lead to the development of metabolic acidosis. Diamox causes kidneys to excrete phosphates, magnesium, calcium, which can also lead to metabolic disorders. This medicine helps climbers fight blood pressure.
The instruction provided with the packing offers basic information on how to use this drug. Before use, it is better to discuss the dosage with your physician and make sure to follow his exact prescriptions.
