You can find Altace in hard gelatin capsules, where there is a different dosage of the main component - ramipril. The main component of ramipril becomes ramiprilat when it is broken down in the liver. Ramiprilat is a diacid metabolite of ramipril. The packaging of the drug is a large bottle with 100 capsules. The dosage of 1.25 mg has a yellow bottle, 2.5 mg - an orange bottle, 5 mg - a red bottle, 10 mg - a blue one.
Altace was developed for people who have low blood pressure. A decrease in this pressure can lead to cardiovascular disease. But it is important to take into account that the use of such a drug is not a complete treatment for such a disease. The patient must adhere to other doctor's prescriptions: abandon alcohol and smoking, add physical activity, limit consumption of sodium, and add lipid control if necessary. Also, antithrombotic therapy must be added to the full course of treatment.
Such a drug as Altace could be used as an independent medicine or used by the patient along with thiazidiuretics. Blood pressure control is an important thing for our health, so this drug will allow you to reduce the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and even death. Altace could be used in parallel with treatment with another drug, for example, with lipid-lowering, antiplatelet or antihypertensive therapy.
The medicine can be taken by people 55 years and older who have high risks of developing a serious disease of the cardiovascular system, peripheral vascular disease, diabetes, coronary heart disease or stroke. And for those patients who have hypertension, smoke cigarettes, high cholesterol, or low HDL are at risk.
You should
consult your doctor about the dosage and reception mode of these pills. Reception
mode recommends taking one tablet of 2.5 mg per day. Heart failure after
myocardial infarction requires a different dosage - 5 mg per day (that is, two
2.5 mg tablets). There may also be other recommendations but the daily dose
should not exceed 20 mg of this component per day. Some patients may take one
pill per day, others may need two. It depends on the degree of the disease. If
it is not sufficient to use the only Altace, then a doctor may also prescribe
you another drug that you will combine with this one.
